$e0e|1-HEAVENLY CREATURES FILM REVIEW
BY DAVE DIAMOND
$3e3A true story set in New Zealand 1953 which tells the tale of 2 girls who
are the outcasts at their school. During the film their friendship
builds into an indestructible wall and the develop lesbian
chracteristics and delve into their own fantasies. Once their
friendship is threatened one of the girls plots and kills her own mother
so they can be together. The film is made by peter jackson who brought
us the poor but brilliantly made up films bad taste and brain damage,
the killing scene although only 30 seconds is terribly frightning,
gruesome, realistic and combined with the acting of all and more
importantly the 2 girls which is superb makes this a film worth
watching, the only problem I had is that it was just TOO bizarre at the
end, I didn`t get what happened??? The special effects of the utopia
that the girls experience is fantastic and credits really needs to be
given tho the fx artist. Although the film will haunt you after it`s
finished it still needs to be seen because of the psychological games
the girls dream and practise, one scene the murderer says `people look
at us in the way that they do because they think we are mad..they`re
right!` but who were the mad ones..us or them? all they wanted is to be
together and not even the death of a loved one could put a hold on their
firendship.
Rating 6/10..another good aussie film, but that killing scene really was
scary.
Oh my other gripe is that the film was distributed by beuna vista who
make disney films.??????????
$ff0[Er.. Buena Vista is a general video distribution company. They deal
with various film genres including childrens programs. Maybe this was
the first non-childrens film you watched hence the reason you were so
frightened? Kei]
